What is Galvanization?

Galvanizing (Galvanisation or galvanization) is a process used to protect certain metals from corrosion (oxidation). The metal is protected with another metal less prone to corrosion or with another material (not necessarily metallic) resistant to oxidation, for this it is necessary to apply only a few layers of thickness less than a millimeter.

The process consists of applying a protective zinc coating to iron or steel, to prevent rusting. The most utilized method is hot dip galvanizing, where steel sections are submerged in a molten zinc bath.
