The Feist-Bénary furan synthesis is a chemical reaction that involves the production of furans. This process occurs through the combination of α-halogenated ketones or ethers and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds in the presence of pyridine. However, when ammonia is utilized as the condensing agent, secondary pyrrole derivatives are formed in addition to the desired furans.
