Fenton reaction

What is Fenton reaction?

The Fenton reaction involves the oxidation of α-hydroxy acids, using a combination of hydrogen peroxide and ferrous salts (known as Fenton’s reagent). This process leads to the formation of α-keto acids. Another variant of the Fenton reaction involves the oxidation of 1,2-glycols, which results in the formation of hydroxy aldehydes.
