Madelung indole synthesis

What is Madelung indole synthesis?

The Madelung indole synthesis is a chemical process that results in the formation of indole derivatives. This is achieved by the intramolecular cyclization of an N-(2-alkylphenyl)alkanamide with the help of a strong base at high temperatures.
