What is Willgerodt-Kindler reaction?

The Willgerodt-Kindler reaction is a chemical process that involves the conversion of aryl alkyl ketones into amides and/or ammonium salts of the corresponding acids. The Willgerodt-Kindler reaction can be achieved by using either aqueous ammonium polysulfide or sulfur in combination with a primary or secondary amine.
