What is chloroquine?
Chloroquine it is a molecule of the family of the quinolines , in particular those that have an amino group (-NH2) to carbon 4 of that ring (4-aminoquinolines). The systematic name of the IUPAC is (RS)-N‘-(7-cloroquinolin-4-yl)-N,N-diethyl-pentane-1,4-diamine.

The main application is called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) in the prevention and treatment of malaria. It is also used in other autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis.
Chloroquine it was used by the indigenous peoples of Peru, which obtained an extract of the bark of the tree Cinchona (Cinchona officinalis), was used as antipyretic in the XVII century.
