What is Carroll rearrangement?

The Carroll rearrangement is a chemical reaction that can be used to prepare γ,δ-unsaturated ketones. This reaction involves either the base-catalyzed reaction of allylic alcohols with β-ketoesters or the thermal rearrangement of allyl acetoacetates.
